As headhunters we are often asked to give career advice and are happy to do so, in the context of interviews for roles we are looking to fill. However, often those conversations are better held with an executive coach.

Being a lawyer by initial training, I spent the first 15 years of my career path in the context of EU politics and law in Brussels. Working with major national and European associations and the European institutions gave me an insight in different systems, structures and logics. Heading a larger team myself, I had the opportunity to develop, try and live different leadership philosophies. Set- backs and doubts included! During these years I realised that coaching others in dealing with these challenges is my vocation. That gave me the curiosity and the energy to set up my own coaching practice in 2015. First under the umbrella of Job Yourself Belgium and then in my own company.

Bob Beck

Bob Beck is a highly qualified (ICF PCC for several years; currently credentialing at the MCC level) coach with over 15 years 1:1 coaching experience. He works with clients up to board level in global brands including some of the largest companies in the world by market value.

Running a practice that is built on trust, repeat business and long-term client relationships, Bob has approaching 30 years professional experience working in and around the business and institutions of government, with trade and with sports associations. This includes extensive work on building and collapsing alliances around a given agenda, mutual gains bargaining, negotiation, rhetoric, conflict and persuasion.

Catherine Piana

If someone is going to manipulate your brain, let this someone be you. This is one of my favourite mottos. As far as I can remember, I have always been fascinated about how people function and how they communicate. What drives them, what influences them, what makes them tick, how they motivate themselves.

So even if I did not intentionally mean to land in the EU lobbying world, my curiosity and appetite for knowledge were fully satisfied, at least for a while. After a couple of decades of practice based on instinct and trial and error, I wanted to know more about the theory of communication, influence and leadership. I got a distance-learning MBA and followed an in-depth neurolinguistic programming course – I hold the fancy certificate of Master Practitioner in NLP. Behind this barbaric title lie a wealth of tools to understand people’s functioning and enhance communication skills to better influence self and others. I also became a coach (business and life coach), a trainer and a hypnotherapist.

In 2012, I launched my part-time free-lance activity as a consultant, coach and trainer and this became a full-time occupation in 2014 and a company in 2016.

Apart from my work as a lobbyist, I deliver trainings on negotiation, leadership, charisma and presentation skills. I also coach people on private or professional matters. Influence is the red thread between these 3 activities.

What you can expect from me as a coach: help you find out your goal and help you reach it, uncover at a deeper level what motivates you and what values make you tick, what your purpose is – professionally and personally. And most of all: I won’t stop until I find what works for you.

Romain Buob

Romain Buob has +15 years’ experience in various HR and people related functions within companies in Switzerland. Romain’s main skills are: recruitment and sourcing of candidates in various sectors, career transition coaching, and training. He was previously Head of Department and recruiter at Adecco Finance, HR Manager for a hedge fund boutique and in-house recruiter and HR business partner for HSBC Private Bank. He is now managing outplacement programmes and career coaching to executives in the region with futura21 SA. Romain founded Akwire in 2010 to provide training solutions and recruitment services mainly to financial institutions in Geneva. Akwire is the legally certified recruitment partner of Dober Partners in Switzerland.
